THE BEAUTIES & BRAINS BEHIND THE BRANDS III EVENT RECAP
Monday I attended The Beauties & Brains Behind the brands III event presented by In Her Shoes & Essence magazine. A Fabulous and fun event honoring 25 fly female entrepreneurs. The room was filled with a lot of major female game changers. It was a big deal to me to be in a positive environment that shed light on some inspiring females to bring out that optimism despite all that’s happening around us and to remind us that we can still accomplish our dreams.
The location was a beautiful space in Dumbo, Brooklyn. where we were able to drink, eat, shop from female business owners and mingled with the guests and honorees. It was a lot of Black girl magic happening under one roof. the the event was catered by the crabby shack and , bcakeny served the delicious treats. Eu2be kept our hands soft with free hand massages.
After connecting with everyone we all eagerly surrounded the stage Awaiting An empowering conversation led by Renee Bluitt, the creator and Editor-in-chief of In Her Shoes Blog, featured panelist were Tai Beauchamp host of TLC’s Dare to wear, Damali Elliott founder of Petals and Belles, Pamela Edwards- Christain Beauty and Style director at Essence magazine and the fine gent ALzo Slade photographer the man who captured the photos of the beautiful women displayed around the room. I loved that Alzoslade was apart of the panelist, he brought a different vibe that was refreshing to hear a guys point of view on entrepreneurs the respect he has for female entrepreneurs.
WHAT I WORE TO MY COUSINS WEDDING
So here is my super late, but super cute outfit post of what I wore to my cousins wedding last Sunday. I have a thing for dresses or skirts that have a good side split. It’s something about them that screams sexy in an understated way. I particularly love this dress not only for the obvious side split, but for the price.
I went into H&M last minute and scooped up all the long flowy maxi dresses that I can find and made a bee line to the dressing room. I tried one dress and hated the way it fit, tried on this blue number that im wearing in above picture and instantly fell in love. I knew it was a hit because the woman in the dressing room gagged when I came out.
This one dress trumps the others, I didn’t even give the rest a second look. What made it even better was the fact that it was on sale! I love a good bargain.

COLORCOMM PRESENTS: DON’T WASTE YOUR PRETTY SPRING SPREE EVENT RECAP
The other day, I had the privilege of attending one of Colorcomm’s exclusive event, “Don’t waste your pretty” Spring Spree Event, featuring author & relationship expert, Demetria Lucas D’Oyley and moderated by Essence Relationship Editor, Charreah Jackson and creator of BossBride.com. The event was hosted at Inglot pro studios located inside of Chelsea Market.
It was an intimate conversation where Demetria answered questions on relationships & dating queries, and dropped a few nuggets on branding & marketing tips. As well as signed copies of her newest book, “Don’t Waste Your Pretty,” which I can not wait to dive into.
Along with the awesome opportunity of getting copies of my book signed, We also received a 20% discount on Inglot Products, which I regrettably didn’t indulge in because I had to control myself. They also had some amazing sponsors providing goodies for us, including: cupcakes from Eat Good Nyc, Cocktails from Jise Cuervo, Gift Bags by Curls, and hair styling by Swivel a beauty.
I alwyas enjoy attending Colorcomm event they’re fun and very engaging. If you’re not familiar with Colorcomm, it’s an organization for Women of Color in Communication. MY ST. LUCIA BIRTHDAY GETAWAY
It’s so good to see you, please bring us some warmth and sunshine soon. I am still on my vacation high, can you believe that? I am just getting off cloud nine and back into the flow of things. Before I move forward I want to share with you some fun I had while away in St. Lucia.
As you all may have seen on my Instagram I celebrated my 28th birthday last month in the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia. This year, I wanted to take a different approach on how I bring in my birthday. Drifting from the norm of dining out with friends, I decided on a getaway and am pleased that I took some time out for me. It was the most relaxing trip that I’ve been on in a while. It was just what the doctor ordered, literally.
I got my daily dose of vitamin D, while relaxing on Laborie Beach decked out in my 24k collection by Asa Soltan via Limelighttatoos
Spent Valentine’s day at Sugar Beach Viceroy Resort
explored St Lucia’s Drive-In Volcano and a took a bath in their therapeutic Sulfur Springs, which was very warm and soothing.
Took a drive to the lighthouse in Vieux-Fort to see the incrdible view of St. Lucia
Surprisingly, I wasnt glued to my phone the entire trip, I wanted to be disconnected from the world for a little while.
Unfortunatly, Some of the photos captured were taken on my iphone 5 and some on my point and shoot camera, the photo quality weren’t all that great. However, in the near future I will have better picture quality from here on out I promise.
The White House
Happy Thursday! =)
Last weekend I went to Washinton D.C with some of my girls and we had a blast. Being that it was most of our first time to D.C we decided to do some sight-seeing and take in the scenary. It was really cold, so we took a taxi everywhere…literally.
I was especially excited that I got to see The White House, The Martin Luther King Jr. memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument. We didnt get to see everything because the weather was doing too much, and all I could think about was staying warm.
More pictures coming soon….
One Hell of a Reminder
I know many of you have seen this buzzing about on different social networking sites, but do you know how it came into existence. I’ve seen this poster many times floating around a lot of social networking sites, and until today, I finally understood where and how it originated. I came across this article on Inc. com, about a start-up company called, Holstee. A Brooklyn, New York based eco-friendly business, which sells clothing and accessories; and is run by best friends (I love that) turned their mission statement into mega mantra poster for everyone.
Talk about a daily kick-in-the-face dose of Inspiration! Adding this to my desktop pronto!
You can read the article in its entirety here: A Powerful (mission) Statement.
